If you intend to work (and eventually practice) in Houston, the best thing to do is join the Houston Bar Association ( students are eligible and there should be a discounted rate). Here is the website: Once you join: they will send you a directory of law firms (and more importantly, lawyers and their practice areas) in Houston. Also, they will have networking events/social mixers which you should attend as a way to meet lawyers and to get to know the different law firms and their cultures. Another resource is this: On that site, you type in "Houston" as a search criteria and it will bring up all law firms in Houston (at least the ones with nalp profiles).
