From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A lawyer, according to Black's Law Dictionary, is "a person learned in the law; as an attorney, counsel or solicitor; a person licensed to practice law." Law is the system of rules of conduct established by the sovereign government of a society to correct wrongs, maintain stability, and deliver justice. Working as a lawyer involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who retain (i.e., hire) lawyers to perform legal services. The role of the lawyer varies significantly across legal jurisdictions, and so it can be treated here in only the most general terms. Q. I am now concerned that my own lawyers are screwing me over as well as a Judge, court appointed attorney, my mother's estate attorney and everyone else. I need to go in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court with these issues, but am I just going to run into the same problem with lawyers looking after their own kind again? Who do I talk to, or where do I go to have someone answer some legal questions truthfully? Asked by painter920 - Fri Jun 13 12:04:54 2008 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments A. Every lawyer you hire is supposed to owe his/her allegience to you and not to other lawyers. While you may interpret their actions in other ways, you may need to unfortunately reassess if you are being realistic about your goals, or your expectations. Q. Instead of taking on serious cases? Are there reasons why lawyers prefer these frivilous lawsuits? Do the lawyers still get paid whether the case wins or not? Thanks! Asked by Joe C - Fri Jul 17 20:35:03 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. They don't. You'd have to be desperate and foolish to take on a case with absolutely no merit. No only won't you get paid, but you risk professional sanction for filing meritless actions. Answered by Adam B - Fri Jul 17 20:39:16 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "lawyers" Lawyers are people who practice law. In most countries, lawyers enter their profession through a period of specialized study. Lawyers are a frequent target of criticism, in part because they are often the public face of unscrupulous parties such as persons being tried for crimes, because they employ a specialized jargon which makes it difficult for persons without a legal education to receive the benefits of the legal system without hiring a lawyer, and because they make up a disproportionate percentage of politicians.
